As part of the International Week of Democracy, we were welcomed at the United States Embassy to develop an activity with part of our team and three outstanding young people from pre-university schools of the University of Buenos Aires: Martina Basgall Sequeira from the Carlos Pellegrini School of Commerce, Genaro Villar Mastino from the Buenos Aires National School, and Felipe Campitelli from the Instituto Libre de Segunda Enseñanza.

During the meeting, we addressed the challenges that youth face today to strengthen our democracy and the role of leaders during this process.

In this context, we present our latest project, “Stars of Democracy”. An initiative co-produced with the Center for Studies in International Organizations (FCE-UBA), based on our workshop that proposes fictitious scenarios where players must identify which requirements of democracy are not met or are not present. In addition, it enables much more direct contact with teachers in the medium and long term, providing them with tools, information and opportunities for growth.

The initiative accompanies the Workshop that the organization already offers in dozens of schools in our country and offers players, mostly children and adolescents, an interactive opportunity to explore the fundamental values and ideas of democracy. In a context where schools and teachers are looking for new ways to encourage civic participation, this program proposes an immersive educational game that connects with democratic values.

At the end, we gave a copy of the game to each of the young people so they could take it to their schools, inviting them to become ambassadors of this program.

Our mission is to reach 50 schools by 2025, with the desire to be able to offer it to all establishments in our country, encouraging reflection and commitment to democratic values from youth.
